Bonetree Distillery is a husband-and-wife operation tucked into a light industrial stretch of Huntington Beach, about two miles from the ocean. Marcus and Teresa Osso founded the distillery in 2017 and have been producing here since around 2019-2021. Marcus handles everything grain to bottle as master distiller, and that hands-on approach shows in the spirits: small-batch, unfiltered, and cask-strength, aged in new American oak barrels to develop bold flavors rather than smoothing things out with filtration or blending.

The lineup covers a lot of ground for a small operation. You'll find a 100% crisp rye malt whisky, a bourbon built on flaked corn and red wheat, a dark rum aged in new oak that picks up whiskey-like caramel and vanilla notes, and an agave spirit made in honor of their daughter. The tasting room runs as a private experience by reservation only, which means when you book, the space is yours. Walk-ins are sometimes available, but calling ahead is the safer bet. The Google reviews are perfect fives across seven ratings, which for a place this small tends to mean visitors come in already knowing what they're getting into and leave genuinely impressed.

Huntington Beach isn't a craft spirits hotspot, so Bonetree is a bit of a discovery for most visitors. If you're already in the area for the beach or want something off the typical LA distillery trail, it's worth the detour.
