Buffalo Distilling Company

South Ellicott, Buffalo, NY

Bourbon Brandy Gin Rye Whiskey Vodka Whiskey

Buffalo Distilling Company has been making whiskey in Buffalo since 1883 - at least in spirit. The original company, founded by Gustav Fleischmann, closed in 1914 and sat dormant for nearly a century before a new generation revived the name and mission in 2012. Today you'll find them at 860 Seneca Street in a restored 1890 carriage factory in the Larkin District, less than a mile from where the first barrels were filled. They operate under a New York State farm distillery license, meaning at least 75% of their grain comes from local farms - and they take that seriously. The lineup runs from their flagship One Foot Cock Empire Rye and Mafia Bourbon to gin, vodka, aged apple brandy, and a honey cask bourbon aged with local honey. Everything is distilled in-house on custom stills the owners designed and built themselves. The bar room pours craft cocktails made with house bitters and syrups, and on weekend nights the place fills up with live music. If you want to see where the whiskey comes from before you drink it, their Deluxe Distillery Tour and Tasting takes you through the barrel room and into the production side of things.
