Fort Hamilton Distillery sits inside Industry City, the repurposed manufacturing complex in Sunset Park that now houses some of Brooklyn's best makers and eaters. The distillery started barreling whiskey in 2016 with a straightforward mission: bring back the New York Rye that defined American drinking before Prohibition wiped it out. Their mash bills contain zero corn, and nothing goes into the bottle except the spirit itself - no colorings, no additives, no shortcuts.

The name comes from Fort Hamilton Army Base nearby, which was itself named after Alexander Hamilton. That Revolutionary War connection runs through the whole brand - their New World Dry Gin is made with watermelon as a nod to the Battle of Brooklyn fought just blocks away. But the rye is the anchor. InsideHook called it 'one of the more balanced and elegant' versions on the market, and Fred Minnick ranked their Double Barrel Bourbon in his Top 100 American Whiskeys of 2021. Wine Enthusiast put their gin in the Top 100 Spirits of 2024.
